  • Key Summary of Transport Issues Considered at Public Consultation

Around forty Arran residents participated in the consultation exercise to identify our priorities and potential solutions to maintaining and improving island life.

Scottish Government consultant Francesco Sindico, from Strathclyde University, made a passionate promise: "The eyes of the world are on you. Scotland now has an act of parliament that is truly empowering. This time you will be listened to and what you say will be acted upon."

The usual procedure was then adopted of setting small groups the task of coming up with their priorities. Unsurprisingly, while diverse issues were identified, Transport came top of everyone's agenda.

The current state of our lifeline ferry service shows it is not fit for purpose in terms of reliability, resilience and infrastructure. The Arran Ferry Action Group is a new and fully representative lobbying group, set up to represent Arran interests in demanding service improvements and accountability in future investment decisions.
